I will attempt to write a directors update at least once a month to keep everyone up to date on what is going on at Top Gun Raceway and within the organization of MSSI. Alvin will work to post it on our website and Facebook after he double checks my spelling.
Our first test and tune is scheduled for Saturday the 31st. The track has been de-winterized and we have received the computer back from Compulink. A biennial update and basic service was completed on the computer for the timing system. We checked it today (3-24-2012) and all seems well. We have washed the track, thanks to the equipment from A&K Earthmovers, along with the water truck and operator. A&K has left one of the power brooms out at the facility so Walt can work on brooming the pit and service roads on his days off before the event. Thank you to A&K and Walt.
Our new concession stand manager has been hired and is if full gear to have the concession stand up and running for the first event. Melanie Harmon will be working directly with Julie for the first couple of events until she is up to speed on everything. Stop buy the concession stand and meet Melanie and while your there buy something.
Our Chief Petty Officers (CPOA) from NAS Fallon will be back out at the track again helping wherever they can. Mostly on the start line and managing the fire truck.
Ed Bruflat has been working hard to get all of the equipment serviced and ready for the year. Kris Bruflat, Ed’s wife is not able to be at our first couple of events this year due to work conflicts. Ed will be covering the front gate. Good luck Ed. I am sure everyone will be patient with you as you work out of your normal area. Gene, Rhonda and I will work to get everyone teched in as fast as we can. Fill out your Tech cards neatly and completely and this will speed up the process for everyone.
Some parking spots have now become available. Please see me if you’re interested in still having your spots or if you wish to buy some additional ones. I will be on the start line as Carol has scheduling conflicts with her work also. Jessica will be in the tower to collect your points sign up if you wish to sign up at the first test and tune.
On a final note Stan Hooper has retired from being our maintenance manager. He will be around for us to ask questions and to seek advice but as far as the physical work goes he wont be able to do it for us anymore. A BIG thank you Stan for all you have done.
For now that’s it. See you all soon.

Summit Racing Equipment Expands Involvement |
| updated: 17 FEB 12 |
Summit Racing Equipment has expanded its involvement with NHRA and will become the title sponsor of the Summit Racing NHRA King of the Track program.
The Summit Racing NHRA King of the Track is a special event that is offered to all NHRA Member Tracks across the country, Canada and Puerto Rico, as a special event for their bracket racers and their bracket racing programs. Each track will have the option to host one Summit Racing King of the Track event each year. The event will feature a run-off between individual class winners with the coveted NHRA Wally trophy being awarded to the Summit Racing King of the Track winner at each NHRA member track.
"The NHRA King of the Track program is a great opportunity to support bracket racers and tracks across the country in addition to our Summit Racing Series," said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing's Motorsports and Events manager. "The program allows the tracks to put together an exciting weekend of racing as racers compete for the title 'King of the Track.'"
The program is just one of several specialty race programs offered to NHRA Member Tracks that also include the National DRAGSTER Challenge and the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge.
The sponsorship extends Summit's current involvement in NHRA where the company is the title sponsor of the NHRA Summit Racing Series, which culminates in the crowning of Summit Racing Series National Champions. Summit is also the title sponsor of NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Norwalk, Ohio. Summit also is the primary team sponsor for the Ken Black Racing Pro Stock team, featuring drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line.

Celebrating 20 Years of Jr Dragster Racing League! |
| updated: 17 FEB 12 |
“It’s hard to believe that 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the Junior Drag Racing League, a program started to introduce NHRA Drag Racing to young people around the country,” said Tom Compton, president, NHRA. “We want to thank our NHRA Member track network for their support of this very important program that has become the proving grounds for future stars in NHRA.”
“The growth of NHRA championship drag racing starts with today’s youth and we congratulate NHRA on twenty years of the Jr. Drag Racing League,” said John “Sporty” Bandimere, III, executive vice president and general manager, Bandimere Speedway. “Over the past twenty years we have seen Jr. racing become more intense and competitive and in turn develop some of drag racing’s top drivers. The competition, friendship and camaraderie that comes from the Western Conference Finals makes hosting the event an honor and we continually look forward to playing host to our racing family.”
Created in 1992, the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League allows kids between the ages of 8 and 17 to experience the thrill of motorsports competition in a controlled environment at tracks in each of NHRA’s seven geographic divisions. The NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League creates family involvement in drag racing at an affordable level. Many of the league’s former participants have gone on to compete in other NHRA classes. Top Fuel racers Shawn Langdon (a two-time Super Comp national champion), Morgan Lucas, and Spencer Massey and Pro Stock driver Erica Enders, are among the league’s graduates while current NHRA Lucas Oil Stock national champion Joe Santangelo II and the 2010 Lucas Oil Super Stock national champion Ryan McClanahan are former Conference Finals champions.
