About Us

Drag Racing in Fallon began in the early 50’s. A group of interested drivers, builders of drag cars began racing wherever they could find strips of pavement, long enough to accommodate them.

Areas such as Silver Springs Emergency Air Strip, Fallon’s Naval Air Station, North-South Runway and others even into California. The group was known as Hurricams Racing Association. After several years went by interest and cost started to become a factor, racing kind of faded away.

A few short years later, it became apparent that racing was still evident. Cars were starting to drag on highways and country roads. A few businessmen, drivers and the Sheriff’s department came together and had some meetings - discussed the possibility of drag racing starting again.

NAS Fallon was contacted regarding the use of a runway. Through their support and okay, drags began. Many cars were being built locally and out of town cars were starting to show up.

Interest seemed aplenty, so after a year or so, the group started looking for property to secure and build our own track. With the help of the county and BLM and looking at several locations, the property south of Fallon, on the Schurz Highway, was leased to us on a long range plan.

After many ups and downs, it was decided to form MSSI (Motor Sports Safety Incorporated).

Work began on the track as racing went on at NAS Fallon. Bleachers were located at a complex in a neighboring state. Things that were needed were becoming available through the county, state, city and many businesses as donations A group from the association began construction with equipment donated by local, Reno, and Fernley Construction Companies.

Monies to surface the strip was badly needed. Contact was made to anyone who could sign notes or donate monies. Several business people and others made it become a reality Paving was accomplished

Practically all materials and many, many hours from contractors were donated toward plumbing, electrical, carpenters and painters just to name a few. A few dedicated people and many, many hours, our dream was becoming a reality.

We are hoping this will become a racing complex for everyone or any other function that may come along. We are very proud of our facility. Much more is to be done as funds become available. Thanks to everyone, large or small. We hope everyone enjoys it.

Hank Cornu, Board Member/City
Councilman of Fallon Nevada.
