FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES – PACIFIC DIVISION
BECKSTROM LEADS WINNERS AT TOP GUN
FALLON, Nev. – Rick Beckstrom took the win in Super Comp and has given himself a shot to double-up at this weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nev.
The Novato, Calif., racer ran 9.307 seconds on the 9.30 dial-in for the win over Zachary Meziere, Escondido, Calif. The pair left the line in a close race but Beckstrom was better at the strip for the win which set up a chance at the double-up as he advanced to the final in Super Gas which will be completed next month at Sonoma Raceway. A heavy dust storm combined with an incoming thunderstorm forced officials to postpone the final round for Super Gas and for Top Dragster. Beckstrom will face off with Ken Mostowich for the Super Gas trophy.
Former NHRA Lucas Oil National Champion Ryan McClanahan took the Super Stock trophy when he outran Leo Glasbrenner in the final round. The Alta Loma, Calif., resident went 9.349 at 129.79 to Glasbrenner’s 10.550, 130.29.
Randy Jones, Monarch Beach, Calif., and Tom Medlin, La Mirada, Calif., won in Comp Eliminator and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson respectively. Jones was the event runner-up last year but closed the deal on Tyler Hogan this year for the trophy where Medlin defended his win from a year ago beating John Widmann on his ’93 Suzuki running 8.713 at 144.13.
Mera Silvia ran right on her dial-in at 7.840 to take the win in Top Sportsman over Jeff Gillette in what was arguably the best race of the day. Gillette had the starting line advantage before Silvia came around for her second win of the year having won back at Firebird International Raceway in early March.
Earl Blake and Marko Perivolaris rounded out the winners as Blake, Las Vegas, won in Stock Eliminator and Perivolaris, Petaluma, Calif., defeated Gary Reust, Pahrump, Nev., for the Super Street title.
Chris Forsyth will face off with John Richardson in the Top Dragster final to be contested at the next Pacific division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Sonoma Raceway, July 19-21.

Lots of smoke, the deafening whine of the engine, the feel of shock waves hitting your body from mini-sonic booms as the car stages, all this combined with lots of heat.
The ground starts to rumble, the lights come down and the car shoots down the track like a rocket till it reaches the end of the track and everything goes silent as the engine is shut off and the parachutes bloom. Next, the scoreboard lights up displaying 200 mph plus numbers and the crowd goes crazy…It’s not for the weak of heart… it’s the BEAST and it’s the jet car that will be going heads up against the JETT LAGG S-10 jet truck at Top Gun Raceway’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series / Junior Dragster Championships taking place June 8 & 9.
On Friday June 7th, THE BEAST will be on static display at Summit Racing (960 E Glendale Ave Sparks, NV 89431). Come out, meet the driver & the team and wish them luck. If you want to take it a step further, if you think you can handle the adrenaline rush along with everything mentioned above, then come to Top Gun Raceway and see it all happen Live. THE BEAST and JETT LAGG will be match racing throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 & 9. Or you could just stay at home and read about it on FaceBook. The choice is yours….

Request For Some Help From Neighboring Track Racer |
| updated: 25 APR 13 (approved for distribution) |
This page has been set up to help our dear friend and fellow racer with financial assistance to help with burial expenses for his daughter Dedra. Dedra was called to Heaven this past Sunday, April 21 around 3:30am. As we know all know, a parent should never have to bury their child. The emotional burden is hard enough for the Morris family to endure, so please help all you can to alleviate some of the financial burden for them. Any donation is appreciated and no amount is too small. Let's help our friends in their time of need! Thank you! Allison Doubleday
